The Courant American, Cartersville, Georgia, 11June 1896, Page 8

“Doings in Bartow—Linwood.”

The funeral sermon of Mrs. Catherine Carnes was conducted by Rev. C. M. Edwards last Sunday at the grave. She was getting old and had been sick but a short while. We trust she is happy now. The sympathies of the community go out to the bereaved ones.

Note: Catherine Carnes was the wife of Andrew Jackson Carnes.

List of Indigent Children, 1854-57

This Bartow County, Georgia list was copied from an old ledger labeled "Poor School Book." It is apparently a list a children whose parents were too poor to afford to pay for school books.
